The 2008 Commissioner's Awards for Bravery were presented during Canada Day celebrations in Whitehorse. Benjamin Correos was honoured for sacrificing his own life to save his son Myles from drowning in the Yukon River. His widow, Josephine Correos, accepted the award on his behalf. Brendan Preston also recieved the award for his efforts to save Correos.
