  • He was instrumental in the creation of Kluane National Park and Reserve and the designation of the Chilkoot Trail as a National Historic Site.
  • He was a joint founder of the the Arctic Winter Games along with Northwest Territories commissioner Stuart Hodgson and Alaska governor Walter Joseph Hickel. 
  • He moved to Whitehorse in 1947 and living and working in Atlin for several years managing a meat cutter and store manager. 
  • In Whitehorse he worked as store manager for a tourism company and, in 1958 was elected as a councilor to the Yukon Council.
