  • He was an administrator in the Northwest Territories before becoming Commissioner of Yukon.
  • He presided over the move of the Commissioner from Dawson City to Whitehorse in March 1953.
  • After resigning as Commissioner of Yukon he became Chief of the territorial division of the Department of Northern Affairs and National Resources in Ottawa and then, in 1957, Deputy Commissioner of the Northwest Territories.
  • The W.G Brown Building in Nunavut is named after him.
